Cong not decided on transfer of power in J and K
Thursday, October 13 2005 14:43 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Congress today (Oct 13, 2005) said that no decision has been taken on the issue of transfer of power in Jammu and Kashmir.

AICC General Secretary Ambika Soni told reporters that no decision has been taken on the issue as the entire concentration now was to provide relief and rehabilitation to quake-hit victims in the state.

As per the power-sharing agreement between Mufti Mohd Sayeed's People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Congress, the two parties would be heading the Government for three years each during the six-year term.

Sayeed is supposed to step down as Chief Minister in the first week of November in favour of a Congress nominee under an agreement between the two major coalition partners in the State Government.
