Ahmedabad:
In a fresh revelation in the Godhra train carnage case, a survivor of the incident today (Oct 14, 2005) told the Nanavati-Shah Commission that he had heard a loud explosion like noise from between two coaches of Sabarmati Express following which fire broke out in the S-6 coach.
Rajendraprasad Mishra, a native of Uttar Pradesh who was coming to Ahmedabad on February 25, 2002, revealed this while deposing before the Commission.
Mishra, a retired military personnel who is handicapped, said during his deposition that he had heard a loud explosion that occurred between the S-6 and S-7 coaches of the Sabarmati express train that was followed by smoke and fire.
Mishra said that he was sure that he had heard the explosion like noise and added that it sounded as if a glass bottle containing some inflammable liquid had exploded and it
was not the sound of an explosive device going off.
Mishra, who was born and raised in Ahmedabad but worked in Uttar Pradesh, said he was coming to Gujarat as his aunt had passed away.
He said that he was accompanied by his wife and son on that ill-fated trip but only he sustained minor injuries during the incident.
