Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate for Bhabhua seat, Ramchandra Yadav and his three supporters were shot at and injured by motorcycle-borne assailants in Kaimur district today (Oct 17, 2005), a day before elections.
The assailants fired at Yadav and his supporters when he was returning to the district headquarters from Jadupu under Sonahan police station after a door-to-door campaign, police said.
Yadav and his supporters were undergoing treatment at a Government hospital here, police said adding that senior officials were camping at Sonahan to supervise the combing operation against the attackers.
This is the second attempt on the life of party leaders after senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former union minister Ravishankar Prasad escaped was attacked at Nokha in Rohtas district recently.
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate for Nawada seat Fakhruddin Ali and his few
supporters were injured in stone-pelting by a crowd some days ago.
