No need of inquiry on WB survey report: K'taka CM Monday, October 17 2005 20:01 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Close on the heels of Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna hitting out at him for his reported remarks on conducting an inquiry into a World Bank survey report on corruption during his rule, Chief Minister N Dharam Singh today (Oct 17, 2005) declared that "there is no scope for ordering inquiry on survey reports."
"There is no proposal before my Government to order an inquiry into that report. There is no scope for such things," Singh told sources here.
Singh also denied having made any statement that the coalition Government would hold an inquiry, 'if need be', into the contents of the World Bank report on investment climate which stated that Karnataka ranked first in corruption as a growth bottleneck on the basis of surveys done in 2000 and 2003 (during Krishna's rule).
"It is only a report. I have also seen it. No importance need to be attached to such reports," Singh said.
