BJP condemns J& K Education Minister Lone's killing
Tuesday, October 18 2005 13:06 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Condemning the killing of Jammu and Kashmir Minister of State for Education Gulam Nabi Lone, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (Oct 18, 2005) asked the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to review its alleged 'soft' policies towards terrorists, separatists and Naxalites.

"Not a single day has passed in the last 15 months when some or the other terrorist incident has not taken place. The soft policies of the Congress-led Central and state governments are responsible for this situation. Their policies are encouraging such anti-national and anti-social forces," party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told sources.

He also regretted that at a time when the entire country was dealing with the disaster caused by the devastating earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir, the terrorists were indulging in such acts of violence.

"This shows that they don't care for any humanitarian values and simply want to vitiate the atmosphere in the state," he said.

Lone was killed when heavily armed militants attacked his house in the high security Tulsibagh area in Srinagar this morning.

Two security personnel and a militant were also killed and a civilian injured in the attack.
