Srinagar:
Jammu and Kashmir Minister of State for Education and PDP leader Gulam Nabi Lone was today (Oct 18, 2005) killed when heavily armed militants attacked his house in the high security Tulsibagh area here.
Two security personnel and a militant were also killed and a civilian injured in the attack, which took place at around 9 AM.
Officials said two heavily armed militants firing indiscriminately and lobbing grenades first tried to enter the house of Communist Party of India (CPI) Marxist (M) MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami. After being challenged by security personnel there, they barged into the neighboring house of Lone and killed him.
Tarigami and his family members, who were present in the house at the time of the attack, were safe, they said.
