TRS senior leader Santosh Reddy suspended from party Tuesday, October 18 2005 11:07 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Hyderabad:
Senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) legislator S Santhosh Reddy, who had raised a banner of revolt against the leadership, has been suspended from the party for indulging in 'anti-party activity'.
The TRS founder President and Union Labor Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is in Delhi, took the decision late last night in an apparent move to contain the revolt in the
party following Reddy's recent outbursts, party sources said.
Reddy, a former Minister, who was the last to quit the Congress-led Government in July last following a directive from the TRS leadership, had dubbed Chandrasekhar Rao as
'dictator' and questioned his style of functioning and his commitment to the cause of Telangana statehood.
Reddy, a former Congressman hailing from Nizamabad district is believed to be mobilizing support from disgruntled TRS leaders and convened a meeting of his
supporters on October 21 to chalk out future course of action.
The TRS sources here said the decision to suspend the senior leader was taken in view of his 'consistent anti-party activities'.
Reddy had objected to the continuance of Chandrasekhar Rao and his deputy A Narendra in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) cabinet after pulling out of the Congress-led Government in the state.
He had also held the leadership responsible for the party's rout in the recent municipal elections.
