PM contributes month's pay to National Relief Fund

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has contributed a month's salary to the National Relief Fund towards relief and rehabilitation efforts of those affected by the earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Prime Minister has sent a cheque of one month's salary, PM's Media Adviser Sanjaya Baru said in a statement.

Spotlight: Quake in North India

Pointing out that the Prime Minister had made a public appeal to assist in immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts, Baru said, "Concerned citizens, industrial associations and other organisations have responded to the Prime Minister's call."

Singh has already announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh each to the next of kin of the dead in the quake.
