Karunakaran vows to defeat Cong nominee in by-poll
Wednesday, October 19 2005 20:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Thiruvananthapuram: Pledging total support to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the coming Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha by-poll, Democratic Indira Congress leader K Karunakaran today (Oct 19, 2005) said he would do all that he could to ensure the defeat of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF).

"No one needs to entertain any doubt. DIC(K) will prove its strength by defeating the UDF. For that, we will muster all our strength," the veteran leader, who broke away from the Congress a few months back, told a press meet here. The common goal of both the LDF and DIC (K) was to bring an end to the UDF rule as people were fed up with the Government, he said.

Referring to reports of heated debate at the recent UDF legislators' meet, Karunakaran said he was happy to know that the MLAs had begun to raise their voice against the Government.

"I am happy to know that they have begun to tell the truth. The way out before them is to resign and join the DIC(K)", he said.

Mounting a scathing attack on the Government's police policy, Karunakaran demanded formation of a special police team to investigate the attack on the Bishop's House at Neyyattinkara near here.
