K'taka: IT sector's request for land under scrutiny Wednesday, October 19 2005 16:07 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister M P Prakash today (Oct 19, 2005) backed the demand of Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) supremo H D Deve Gowda that request for land by IT companies be put to stricter scrutiny, saying it "merits consideration and the suggestion can be implemented."
"There is nothing wrong in Gowda expressing reservation over the issue", he told reporters while reacting the letter written by Gowda to the Chief Minister N Dharam Singh in this regard.
On being asked for his reaction on the indirect dig taken by Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna on the frictions in the Congress-JDS coalition Government in the state, Prakash said the Maharashtra model cannot be equated with Karnataka.
In Maharashtra, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had a pre-poll tie up with Congress whereas in Karnataka the coalition partners fought the polls separately and joined hands to form the Government, he said.
The JDS would soon name members to the coordination committee set up for coordination between the coalition partners, Prakash said.
Prakash refuted allegations that the recent revision in guidance value of lands in the city was on a higher side, saying it was below the prevailing market rates.
The Government was expected to revive the banned registration of revenue sites by next month, he said.
