Kolkata:
Concerned over the Trinamool Congress's threat to block entry to the metropolis tomorrow (Oct 20, 2005) of the Salim group's Chief Executive, Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee today (Oct 19, 2005) invited the party, up in arms over agricultural land being given to the Indonesian group, for talks.
"If Trinamool Congress has anything to say on the Salim group's projects, they are welcome to discuss the issue with us. Let them come and talk to us. We want to proceed
maintaining transparency," the Chief Minister told reporters at the state secretariat.
What would be the message to investors coming from outside if the Trinamool Congress laid siege to the city tomorrow as threatened, asked the chief minister, saying West
Bengal had a certain culture.
The Chief Minister said that the Salim group Chief executive Benny Santoso would arrive here tomorrow to sign the final agreement for a two-wheeler manufacturing plant, the first of its kind in West Bengal, at Uluberia in Howrah district.
The Salim-based group has proposed to set a two-wheeler plant, a health city, an industrial township and a four-lane expressway from Barasat in North 24 Parganas to Kukrahati in East Midnapore district.
