Case registered against Chautala for irregularities Thursday, October 20 2005 20:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Haryana Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and former chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) K C Bangar in connection with alleged irregularities in selections to various posts during 2001-2003 when the INLD Government was in power.
Bureau sources said the case against the two had been registered at the Vigilance Police Station at Hissar yesterday (Oct 20, 2005).
No arrest had been made as first the records relating to the selections would be scrutinised and some other related investigations would be made, the sources added.
The case has been registered under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The IPC sections included 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).
The case against Chautala and Bangar had been registered on the basis of 'source report', the sources added.
Bureau sources said information contained in the 'source report' would now be verified by seeking record from the HPSC and the departments to which the selections had been made.
The number of appointments was not known, but they were made during the period included that of lecturers, Inspectors and to the Haryana Civil Services (HCS), the VB sources said.
Detailed investigations would now be conducted to verify the allegations contained in the 'source report'.
Chautala was earlier in the day questioned by CBI officials in connection with the teachers recruitment scam in the state.
