Political clash triggers mild tension in Mahe

Kannur: Mild tension prevailed in Palloor locality of Mahe enclave of Pondicherry state after a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) activist was attacked allegedly by a group of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers today (Oct 20, 2005), police sources here said.

The CPI-M activist C Rajivan (32), a spinning mill worker, was attacked as he was returning home from the factory in the wee hours today triggering mild tension in the area, police said.

The incident was said to be a retaliation of last night (Oct 19, 2005) attack allegedly by a group of CPI-M workers on two brothers who were RSS members.

The CPI-M worker who sustained injuries on his legs was shifted to the Kozhikode medical college hospital while the RSS workers who sustained multiple injuries were being treated at the Thalassery general hospital.
