SC reserves judgement on Sankaracharya's petition
Thursday, October 20 2005 14:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Oct 20, 2005) reserved its judgement on a petition by Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati seeking transfer of the Sankararaman murder case outside Tamil Nadu.

A bench comprising Chief Justice R C Lahoti and Justice G P Mathur reserved the order on a plea by Sankaracharya that the surcharged atmosphere in Tamil Nadu was not conducive for the trial in the case.

The State Government has opposed the petition to transfer the case outside the state contending that it will cause great technical difficulties.
