New Delhi:
In a significant gesture, India today (Oct 22, 2005) announced setting up of relief and rehabilitations centres at three points on its side of the LoC for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
The three points are Kaman near Aman Setu in Uri, Tithwal in Tangdhar and Chakan Da Bagh in Poonch, External Affairs Ministry spokesman, Navtej Sarna, told reporters here.
These Centres will provide facilities for medical assistance and relief to the people from across the LoC, he said.
"India's decision has been conveyed to Pakistan. Now we await their response before setting up the relief points. These will become operational from October 25. People from across the LoC will be permitted to come to these points after necessary screening during day light hours and return after receiving medical treatment and relief," Sarna said.
Indian nationals will also be able to come to these points for meeting their relatives from across the LoC.
