Tuesday, October 25 2005 20:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Poonch (J&K): Even as troops made the border meeting camps for the divided families along Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir operational, Pakistan today (Oct 25, 2005) stopped setting up such camps on the other side.

"Contrary to Indian's operational border camps for providing medical aid to the divided families on forward posts along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan stopped such work on their side today," top army sources told PTI.

Pak army, which were engaged in the setting up of such camps at Kanch post in Tetrinote belt of their side, stopped the work and also uprooted the tents and other things and took them back, they said.

"The joint relief and rescue operations along LoC and meeting of divided families would now be decided on 29 October at External Affairs Ministry level," they said, adding, "Therefore the commencement of operations have been stopped."

Indian army has already setup three medical-cum-relief centres, operational, along the LoC at Kaman (near Aman setu in Uri), Teetwal (Tangdhar) and Chakan-da-Bagh (Poonch) as per the decision of the Ministry of External Affairs to benefit quake affected people living across the dividing line.

"We have completely set up this cross border meeting camp along LoC in Poonch that includes 10-bed emergency hospital, 100 ward hospital, meeting place for dividing families, media centre and relief centre besides langurs at Chakan-da-Bagh belt of Poonch," they said.

Three-kilometre road stretch linking Chakan-da-bagh along LoC with Tetrinote forward village in Pakistan occupied Kashmir has been completed in 36 hours, they said.
