MiG-21 aircraft crashes in Bangalore; no casualties

Bangalore: A MiG-21 aircraft crashed at Bangalore airport today (Oct 26, 2005) following suspected technical snag but a test pilot and a test engineer on board ejected safely, defence and police sources said.

The test pilot and test engineer were both injured and being treated in a hospital.

The aircraft belonging to the Aircraft Systems and Testing Establishment was on a routine training sortie when it experienced problems during the take-off role.

The aircraft crashed, and the debris were being removed from the runway by the authorities, the sources said.
