Wednesday, October 26 2005 16:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Islamabad: The devastation wrecked by the killer earthquake, which struck Pakistan, would be the highlight of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's interaction with member's states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Moscow.

Spotlight: Earthquake in North India

Aziz, who left for Russia to participate in the 4th meeting of Prime Ministers of the member states of SCO today (Oct 26, 2005), said he would emphasize the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in his talks with leaders from Russia, China and other countries.

In his parleys with them he would discuss the rehabilitation and reconstruction work being done in the earthquake affected areas and seek cooperation and assistance from the leaders attending the conference by highlighting Pakistan's needs and requirements.

Pakistan would get full benefit from its observer status in the organization of SCO to play its due role in promoting economic and political relations, Aziz told reporters before his departure from Chaklala airbase.

External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh is also attending the SCO meeting.

Aziz said Pakistan, Iran and India have been included in the organization to enhance and promote cooperation in the region in the economic, security spheres and to create mutual understanding on political affairs.

He said, "As we get into regional groupings dedicated for peace for promoting the cause of the region and to create a multi-polar world, it (SCO) will provide a platform to Pakistan to present its views and interface with countries who are very important in the region and they transcend from European coast to Asian continent."
