Wednesday, October 26 2005 19:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jamui (Bihar): Union Minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav today (Oct 26, 2005) moved the court for anticipatory bail to avoid arrest for securing the illegal release of Vijay Prakash, his brother and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate for Jamui, even as the police issued a state-wide alert for nabbing him.

Yadav's counsel Ramlakhan Tiwari moved the court of in-charge district and sessions judge of Jamui, Subhash Kumar Singh, seeking anticipatory bail which was posted for hearing tomorrow (Oct 27, 2005).

Jamui Superintendent of Police, Arvind Kumar, told PTI that he had written to his counterparts in all the 38 districts of Bihar alerting them to arrest Yadav and four others, including his brother, if they were sighted in their jurisdiction.

Non-bailable arrest warrants were issued on Monday against Yadav, Prakash, the suspended officer in-charge of Khaira police station Mukteshwar Prasad, independent candidate Ashok Ram and a RJD worker Batohi Yadav in connection with Prakash's escape from police custody after his arrest during the first phase of elections on Oct 18.
