Election Commission Special Advisor K J Rao today (Oct 26, 2005) ordered registration of a fresh FIR against Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Sadanand Singh for violation of the model code of conduct for elections, official sources said.
Rao, while supervising the polling in Kahalgaon from where Singh was seeking his re-election, found several posters with slogans pasted on the walls in the constituency.
He ordered the authorities, accompanying him, to register an FIR against Singh under the Defacement of Property Act and violation of the model code.
Earlier, an FIR was registered against Singh for violation of the model code of conduct for elections on October 14.
The election office of Singh, Congress candidate for Kahalgaon, had a Pipul tree whose branches extended to the highway on which his supporters had planted party flags and
loudspeakers in violation of the code prompting the authorities to lodge an FIR with Kahalgaon police station.
Another FIR was also lodged against the Congress party in connection with landing a helicopter for electioneering on the premises owned by National Thermal Power Corporation without permission.
