Sarfaraj Alam, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate and son of Union minister of State for Civil Supplies Md Taslimuddin was today (Oct 26, 2005) sent to jail after he was arrested in connection with a case relating to the attack on a district police official.
Alam, a former Bihar minister, was taken into custody as he stepped out of the office of Returning Officer for the Jokihat assembly constituency at Araria after filing his nomination as a RJD candidate, official sources said.
He was produced before the chief judicial magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody for a fortnight.
A non-bailable warrant of arrest was issued by a local court against Alam for allegedly attacking and obstructing a police official in discharge of his duties at Teragach police station in Kishanganj district recently.
