Collective leadership to shape BJP actions: Naidu
Thursday, October 27 2005 17:20 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Pune: Supporting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Pramod Mahajan's view that the party should function on collective leadership, party Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu today (Oct 27, 2005) said it would form the basis for party operations in future.

"There is no reason to differ with Mahajan's recent view that the party should take recourse to collective leadership for functioning", Naidu said in reply to question at a press conference here.

"In BJP, the President presides and the team decides. That is how we function and would continue to do that way," he said.

Claiming that Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) would bite the dust in the Bihar Assembly polls, Naidu said there would be realignment of political parties at the Centre in the coming days.

"There is also a possibility of mid-term election because of a wobbling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government and a restless Lalu making things more difficult for the coalition after losing the Bihar elections," he said.

"Congress and the Left parties differ on all issues. They do not agree on foreign direct investment, disinvestment, labour and industrial policies and have grave differences on each and everything. The Left parties had earlier quit the coordination committee of the UPA and now want to rejoin. How would the UPA government function this way?" he asked.
