K'taka: BJP demands emergency legislature session Thursday, October 27 2005 20:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
BJP's Karnataka unit today (Oct 27, 2005) demanded that the Government convene a week-long legislature session to debate various issues of public import including havoc caused by floods, failure to refer financial irregularities in upper Krishna project during H D Deve Gowda regime to CBI probe and World Bank survey report on corruption.
Accusing Congress- Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) Government of neglecting the development and according top priority to sharing power for their own benefits, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in the state assembly B S Yediyurappa charged at a press meet here that the government has only been holding out 'false promises' to people.
He also charged that the one-point programme of the Congress-JDS coalition government was to 'insult' opposition and prevent BJP from coming to power, while reacting to JDS chief Deve Gowda statement that he has decided to play the role of an opposition following BJP failing to perform its duty.
Yediyurappa accused the government of failing to spend budgetary allocation of Rs 4205 crore by this August end, saying only Rs 3427 crore has been utilised on various programmes.
He flayed government's claims that it was implementing programmes in North Karnataka region as suggested by Dr D M Nanjundappa Committee and demanded a 'white paper' on the issue.
