Heavy rainfall forecast in TN/AP for next 36 hrs
Thursday, October 27 2005 13:00 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast in parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh for the next 36 hours beginning 8.30 AM today (Oct 27, 2005) under the influence of a depression located 400 kms east southeast of Chennai which was remaining 'almost stationary'.

The depression was likely to intensify and move in a northwesterly direction and fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea, as the sea would be rough to very rough, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said this morning.

Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall was likely to occur at a few places over North Coastal Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and heavy rainfall at one or two places over rest of Tamil Nadu during the period.

These areas were also likely to experience squally winds with speeds ranging between 55-65 km per hour during the same period, the IMD said.

IMD said local 'caution signal number three' has been hoisted at the ports of Chennai, Ennore, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Pondicherry in view of the rough sea condition.
