Poll result shows disenchantment with Cong: Modi Friday, October 28 2005 19:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ahmedabad:
Buoyed by the recent success in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation elections and the trend in the district Panchayat polls, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is surging ahead of Congress, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today (Oct 28, 2005) said the result is a clear indication that the people are disenchanted with the negative politics of the Congress.
"The electoral results clearly show that people have differentiated promise from performance and have voted in favour of the BJP while rejecting the Congress," Modi said while talking to reporters.
State BJP President Vajubhai Vala was also present.
Modi said the trend indicate that the BJP would get two-thirds majority in the Panchayat elections.
The Chief Minister, however, preferred to be tight-lipped when asked about his recent meeting with dissident leader Keshubhai Patel.
Modi said the victory will spur the party to work with renewed vigour to ensure development and upliftment of the people, adding, the people have reposed full faith in the 'development policy' of BJP.
He said the party will be celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel all over the state as 'Vijayotsav' to mark the victory of the party in the elections on October 31.
