No Diwali gifts; donate it to PM Relief Fund: Singh

New Delhi: In view of the destruction caused by the October eight earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Oct 28, 2005) appealed that no gifts or sweets should be sent to him this Diwali and people should rather donate money to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

"Don't send me gifts, sweets or flowers for Diwali. Just donate money to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund", he said, according to his media advisor Sanjaya Baru.

Singh asked people to donate to the relief fund to help victims of the Jammu and Kashmir earthquake and other causes.
