A district court today (Oct 28, 2005) dismissed the anticipatory bail application of controversial RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin in a case relating to seizure of arms of foreign make during raids at his Pratappur residence earlier this year.
Siwan District and Sessions judge Abhijit Sinha, who had yesterday reserved his order after hearing the counsels of the petitioner and the state, rejected Shahabuddin's prayer for bail.
A FIR had been registered against the MP who is on the run in connection with eight criminal cases lodged with the Hussainganj police station in which non-bailable warrants of arrest are pending after seizure of German made automatic pistols and cartridges made in Pakistan during raids at his Pratapur house on April 24.
Chief Judicial Magistrate of Siwan A K Bariar had last month issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Shahabuddin in connection with the seizure of the arms.
Shahabuddin had been externed from Siwan district till December 20 by district magistrate Santosh Kumar Mal. His name was also deleted from the voter's list for remaining absent from his place of address for more than six months.
The Siwan CJM had on October 18 accepted police prayers and issued proclamation notice for attachment of his properties as he continues to be in hiding.
