The Personal Assistant of elusive Union Minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav and five others were detained by police following complaints they were distributing money on the eve of today's (Oct 29, 2005) polling in Kharagpur constituency from where his mother is contesting as an Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) nominee.
Munger District Magistrate cum District Election Officer K Senthin told sources that Vinod Yadav, the PA of the Union Minister and five others were taken into custody last night by the Border Security Force(BSF) and handed over to police.
A sum of Rs 17,000 have been seized from them. They have were detained at the Kharagpur police station.
Jaiprakash is evading arrest for facilitating the 'illegal release' of his brother Vijay Prakash, an RJD nominee.
His mother Shanti Devi is RJD nominee from Kharagpur.
