India and Pakistan today (Oct 29, 2005) held talks here to finalize modalities for providing relief and medical assistance to earthquake victims on both sides of Kashmir through the LoC.
A six-member Indian delegation headed by Dilip Sinha, Joint Secretary in External Affairs Ministry, which arrived here last night, held talks with the Pakistani side headed by Ibne Abbas, Director General of South Asia Division in Pakistan Foreign Office, to finalize modalities to permit Kashmiris on both sides to visit each other as well as to provide relief to those affected.
India has proposed to open relief camps at three points Aman Setu in Uri, Teetwal in Tangdhar and Chakan Da Bagh in Poonch on the LoC where quake victims from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir could come over and avail medical treatment and relief material. Pakistan has suggested five locations along the LoC.
Pakistan said yesterday (Oct 28, 2005)was setting up relief camps at certain points.
Today's talks would also focus on the timeline, documents and category of travelers visiting each other, officials said.
