Azad chosen as JK Congress Legislature Party leader

Srinagar: Chief Minister designate Ghulam Nabi Azad was today (Oct 30, 2005) unanimously elected leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress Legislature Party here. Azad's name was proposed by JKPCC chief Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed and seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma and Congress leader Ghulam Rasool Kar.

The election of Azad, who is curently the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, was held in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer Moti Lal Vohra and Ambika Soni, AICC General Secretary in-charge of J&K.

Twenty-one Congress members, four independents from Ladakh and six associate members were present at the meeting held at the official residence of Sharma.
