Extra security in Jalandhar following Delhi blasts
Monday, October 31 2005 13:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jalandhar: Security has been beefed up today (Oct 31, 2005) in Jalandhar city with deployment of additional forces in sensitive locations in the wake of Delhi serial blasts, which claimed nearly 60 lives.

"We have deployed extra forces at the crowded and sensitive points of the city and special barriers have been put on to check all vehicles," District Senior Superintendent of Police Ishwar Singh told sources here.

Special police teams have been deployed at local railway station and bus stand to check movement of suspicious persons and to keep close vigil on any unclaimed object, he said. The SSP also appealed people to inform police if they notice any suspicious object or person.

"We have conducted a meeting with the cinema hall and hotel owners of the city to discuss the safety measures required to prevent any untoward incident," he said.
