Volcker Committee report: Natwar Singh meets Sonia
Monday, October 31 2005 14:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Against the backdrop of the UN-appointed Volcker committee report that he was a beneficiary of Iraq's oil-for-food programme, External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh met Congress president Sonia Gandhi last night (Oct 30, 2005).

Singh's meeting with Ms Gandhi came soon after he had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who gave a clean chit to the External Affairs Minister saying there was 'insufficient' material to reach any adverse conclusion against Natwar Singh, sources said.

Natwar Singh had denied his involvement in the alleged illicit payments on oil transactions under the programme.
