SCR orders inquiry into Andhra Pradesh train mishap

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has ordered a statutory inquiry by the Commissioner of Railway Safety into the derailment of a passenger train on Saturday, near Valigonda station in Andhra Pradesh, which claimed 111 lives.

Commissioner Railway Safety R P Agarwal will conduct the enquiry, an SCR release said here today.

The inquiry will be held on November 2 and 3 at Nalgonda railway station and November 4 at Secunderabad, it said.

In an appeal to the public, SCR said anyone having knowledge relating to the mishap would have the opportunity to testify on the said dates.
