RJD nominee Vijay Prakash surrenders in local court

Jamui (Bihar): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate from Jamui and brother of Union Minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav, Vijay Prakash, today (Oct 31, 2005) surrendered in a local court and was remanded to judicial custody.

Vijay Prakash was evading arrest after non-bailable warrants were issued against him in connection with his 'illegal' release from police custody on October 18. He was arrested for roaming in his constituency on the polling day with arms. Cash and liquor was also seized from the vehicle in which he was travelling with his friends.

Prakash gave himself up before Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jamui R K Srivastava, who remanded him to judicial custody till November 14, his counsel Ramlakhan Tiwari said. Tiwari said no petition for bail had been moved.
