Blasts will have no effect on Indo-Pak peace process
Tuesday, November 1 2005 14:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Sultanpur (UP): Making it clear that the recent serial blasts in Delhi would have 'no effect' on the Indo-Pak peace process, Union Minister of state for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal today (Nov 1, 2005) said security agencies had obtained 'important clues' regarding the explosions and investigation was moving in the 'right direction'.

"The Delhi serial blasts will have no effect on the ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan," Jaiswal told reporters here.

"There are some terrorist organizations who do not want relations between the two countries to improve but they would not succeed in their designs," he said.

Security agencies probing the serial blasts in Delhi had obtained important clues and the culprits would soon be exposed, the minister said.

He admitted that local intelligence, especially of police, needed further improvement and said Government was taking necessary steps in this direction.

Referring to the transfer of power in Jammu and Kashmir, he said the Congress-led Government in the state would carry forward the good works of the Mufti Government.

On the recent criticism of Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar by the Samajwadi Party, Jaiswal said, "The governor did nothing unconstitutional" in visiting Mau.

He decried the State Government for what he alleged 'leaking' its correspondence with the Governor.

On the state's demand for funds for police modernization, Jaiswal said further funds would be released only when the State Government furnished the utilization certificate with regard to funds already released in the past.
