DPA campaign to focus on non performance of AIADMK Thursday, November 3 2005 16:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) would focus on the 'non-performance' of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Government in Tamil Nadu in their campaign for next year's assembly polls, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder Dr S Ramadoss said here today (Nov 3, 2005).
"The Jayalalithaa Government is the most non performing Government the state ever had," he told reporters here.
Denying that there was any anti-incumbency factor in the state against the AIADMK Government, he said villagers were 'disgusted' with the Government and had 'vowed' to vote out the Government in the hustings.
The Government had spent all the past four and half years in blaming the previous DMK Government, without doing any thing tangible, he alleged.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had made announcements daily to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore without raising resources to implement them and people were aware of this, he said.
Ramadoss said he would soon meet United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to prevail upon them, the need to introduce reservation in the private sector within the next six months.
Though it was one of the items in the UPA's Common Minimum Programme, it was regretable that not even a public debate had started on the subject.
Even in the US Congress, the Committee on international affairs and human rights had announced that it would bring forward a resolution to make it compulsory for all U.S. companies based in India to introduce reservation, he added.
