Natwar Singh holds late night meeting with Manmohan
Friday, November 4 2005 10:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh had a late night meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday (Nov 03, 2005), the second in the evening.

The meeting assumed significance against the backdrop of the Volcker committee report implicating Natwar Singh in the Iraqi oil transactions.

Earlier in the day today, Natwar Singh had met Manmohan Singh after which the Prime Minister Office said the government was "determined to go to the root of the matter and establish the truth or otherwise of these (unverified) references" in the report.

CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat also had a separate meeting with Natwar Singh today.

The meetings between the Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister and Natwar Singh and Karat took place on a day when BJP pressed for the dismissal of the External Affairs Minister, registration of a case and investigation in the wake of the UN probe report.
