Natwar dubs Volcker report as 'bullshit and lies'
Sunday, November 6 2005 09:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bharatpur: External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh yesterday (Nov 05, 2005) dubbed the Volcker Committee report naming him as a beneficiary in the Iraqi oil pay-offs as 'bullshit and full of lies'.

Reacting strongly to the statement of Paul Volcker, head of the UN inquiry committee, that he did know that he (Natwar Singh) was the Foreign Minister of India, he asked where did Volcker send the notice to India or Pakistan.

Addressing a public meeting at Kama, organised by the District Congress, Singh asserted neither the Congress nor he himself and his son had anything to do with the UN oil-for-food programme.

He said he had never indulged in any such activities on account of which his children or grandchildren have to hang their heads in shame.

Singh said the Centre had asked the Indian Permanent Representative at the UN to meet Volcker and find out from him where did he send the notice or letter in connection with the probe when he did not know the address of the Congress party nor his.
