"There is no violation of airspace by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir," Major General V K Singh, Chief of Staff of Srinagar-based 15 Corps told reporters here today.
He said as per the agreement between the two countries aircraft and helicopters of Pakistan can fly close to the Line of Control if needed in the wake of the devastating quake.
Singh said the possible reason for scaling down the number of relief points (from five to three) on the Line of Control for providing relief to the quake affected people was
that Pakistan was not fully prepared yet.
"We are fully prepared to open three of the five points as agreed but may be the other side was not fully prepared yet," he said.
India and Pakistan last month had agreed to set up five relief points in the Line of Control to facilitate the meeting of the quake affected divided families but only one such point
(Poonch-Rawalakot) is opening tomorrow (Nov 7, 2005).
Asked about delay in opening the remaining two such points (Gharkote in Haji Peer sector of Uri and Tattapani in Mendhar sector of Poonch), Singh said, "It is not possible to open the (relief) points at a push of a button. It is a time consuming job as lot of things needed to be done like construction of road to open the points."
However, he said work was on to remove the impediments in way of opening the other two crossing points.
