Imphal: At least 10 persons were injured, some of them seriously, when a powerful bomb exploded at the crowded Khwairamband market at Manipur Capital Complex here today (Nov 08, 2005).

Official sources said that the bomb, which was hidden in a shack at the busy Alu Gali area of the market complex, went off late in the afternoon, injuring at least 10 persons.

Earlier reports had said that one person was killed in the blast, but the police clarified that the woman remained unconscious for sometime after getting hurt by the splinters of the bomb.

The sources said that the condition of at least three persons, including the woman, was stated to be 'very serious' and every effort was being made to save their lives.

Policemen in large number and central forces cordoned off the area to launch a manhunt. Several injured persons were taken to the nearby hospital.
