CPI-M does not deem Volcker report as final: Karat
Tuesday, November 8 2005 20:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) today (Nov 08, 2005) said that it does not accept the Volcker committee report on Iraqi pay-offs in its oil-for-food programme as 'anything final' as it does not consider the surcharges over the deals as 'kickbacks'.

"We don't consider these as kickbacks. So we don't accept the Volcker report as anything final. Many countries in the world are taking that position, so let an inquiry be held and the final position can come out", party General Secretary Prakash Karat, said.
