Opening LoC points a Kashmir-specific CBM: Kasuri
Tuesday, November 8 2005 20:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Islamabad: Pakistan today (Nov 08, 2005) said that though the spirit behind opening the five points across Line of Control was to help the quake-affected people on both sides, the move might also prove to be a 'Kashmir specific' confidence building measure.

"It will be a Kashmir specific CBM between the two countries," Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri told sources.

Spotlight: Earthquake in North India

"We pray to God to enable us to run it successfully," he added.

To a question he said, India's delay in opening the remaining points may be because of the landmines on their side. Pakistan has made all the arrangements on all the five points and the relief goods are also present there, he claimed.

He said India was ready for the one point, which was opened yesterday. "They have said two more points will be opened in two or three days while another point will be opened after three or four days".

Spotlight: Kashmir is NOT negotiable

Kasuri said Pakistan wished that there should be maximum opening points and the procedure should be such that people could easily cross the LoC.

"That is why we made the proposal that any document of identification should be acceptable such as driving license, identity card or any kind of local document so that people could travel easily", he added.
