Govt firm on reviving sick PSUs : Sonia Gandhi
Wednesday, November 9 2005 20:01 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Rae Bareli: Asserting the Government's commitment to revive sick public sector companies, Congress president and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today (Nov 9, 2005) said the Manmohan Singh Government was fulfilling all its promises each passing day.

"The Government is taking one step after the other to fulfill all the promises made to the country and society with honesty," she said, after inaugurating the second GSM manufacturing facility of ITI Ltd in her constituency.

The unit has been revived with the help of a Rs 1,000 crore package from the Government.

Gandhi said PSUs that can run would be revived and ITI was part of the commitment.

She said the Government was worried about the unemployment problem and thus brought the National Rural Employment Guarantee Bill.

The programme would be started in 200 districts and would be expanded to cover the entire country, Gandhi said.

She said the Right to Information Act passed in the last session of Parliament would ensure honesty and transparency in administration.

Gandhi said the steps taken by late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the field of communication technology have started showing results in every field.
