Mumbai:
A businessman, who lodged complaint of extortion against gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli with the Mumbai police, today (Nov 10, 2005) moved police once more after he received a threat on phone from a person claiming to be a Gawli supporter.
The businessman, whose name has been kept under wraps by the police, received a telephone this morning at his central Mumbai residence in which the caller reportedly said that Gawli was unhappy with the complaint and would retaliate, sources said.
After the call, the businessman moved Bhoiwada police in central Mumbai and lodged a complaint.
"We have taken note of his complaint stating that some one claiming to be a Gawli supporter threatened him," a senior police official told sources today.
However, no case has been registered against Gawli as the matter was being investigated further, the officer further said.
