Bangalore:
Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus today (Nov 10, 2005) praised the achievement of Bangalore in the technology sector and expressed hope that more IT companies would set up shop in his country.
"We are glad to be here. We have heard very much about your State, your city; everyone knows about the achievements of the industry, especially in sophisticated and modern sectors such as IT and space", he said on his arrival here.
Klaus was accompanied by first lady Livie Klausova, who is celebrating her birthday today, and a business delegation, including representatives from IT companies back home.
His engagements for the day include a visit to ISRO Satellite Centre and Infosys Technologies and the plant near here of Terex Tatra India Limited, which is Indian joint venture of Czech heavy-duty truck maker Terex Tatra.
"Infosys is already present in Czech Republic. It's a good beginning. We have here representatives from several IT companies. I hope there will be something done for mutual benefit", he said at Bangalore airport, where he was accorded a warm welcome.
"We have brought a business delegation. We hope to start good contacts with your city", added Klaus, who said his week-long India visit is intended to present Czech Republic as an economically strong and politically stable country.
Meanwhile, a 26-member delegation of Czech companies from various sectors led by Stanislav Kazecky, Vice-President, Confederation of Industry of Czech Republic, is slated to participate in an Indo-Czech Business Cooperation seminar to be held here this evening.
