Arun Gawli files anticipatory bail application
Thursday, November 10 2005 17:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, who has been booked in an extortion case by Mumbai crime branch, today (Nov 10, 2005) filed an anticipatory bail application in a local court.

The application was slated to come up for hearing before judge Abhay Thipsay tomorrow, public prosecutor A Bankar told reporters here.

Yesterday (Nov 9, 2005), police raided Gawli's residence 'Dagdi chawl' in central Mumbai, soon after he was booked for allegedly extorting lakhs of rupees from a businessman to settle a business dispute. However, police suspect that Gawli sniffed the action impending and escaped.
