Bihar needs stable coalition SDF government: Sonia
Friday, November 11 2005 15:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Araria/Benipatti: Seeking support for the Secular Democratic Front (SDF) for providing a stable government irrevocably committed to all-round growth of Bihar, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today (Nov 11, 2005) promised that it would do justice to all sections of society and firmly take on the 'communal and fascist' forces out to divide the society.

"To bring development back on rails, Bihar requires a stable coalition SDF government which apart from doing justice to all sections can effectively counter the sinister designs of communal and fascist forces to divide the society", Gandhi said while addressing election meetings at Araria and Benipatti to canvass support for the SDF candidates on the last day of campaigning for the crucial third phase assembly elections in Bihar slated for November 13.

She said the SDF government would work on the basis of the Common Minimum Programme on the pattern of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre.

Accusing the erstwhile National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of having 'neglected' Bihar and the country during its six-year rule, the UPA chairperson charged the NDA with having sowed the seeds of communal hatred. Ever since the UPA government came to power, we have taken a number of steps for the uplift of all sections of society without discriminating against anybody, she said.

"I am not in favour of making promises which we cannot keep but the SDF government will work in the way UPA government is at the centre. The Common Minimum Programme (CMP) will be implemented in Bihar in totality with all sincerity", she said.
