New Delhi: With the arrest of underworld don Abu Salem, evidence could mount against a former Indian cricketer and a film actress, which surfaced during the investigations into the funding of the expenses of underworld don Abu Salem in Portugal.

Highly-placed investigation sources said the bank transactions of Salem were monitored closely and names of the former cricketer and the actress, who had been allegedly laundering money for Salem and taking care of his expenses in that country.

Security agencies, seeking to unravel the funding mystery, traced some of the financial transactions to the former Indian cricketer and the actress.

Salem was brought to Mumbai this morning from Lisbon after an extradition trial for over three years in Lisbon.
