Bihar to issue show-cause notice to defiant ADG Saturday, November 12 2005 15:10 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
The state administration has decided to serve a show-cause notice on the Additional Director General (ADG) of Bihar Military Police, Manoj Nath for 'defying' the order of the State Police Chief, Ashish Ranjan Sinha, to probe the incident related to last month's 'illegal escape' of the brother of former Union Minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav.
Chief Secretary G S Kang told PTI today (Nov 12, 2005) that the Director General of Police, Ashish Ranjan Sinha, had complained that the ADG (BMP) had defied his order to probe the incident related to alleged escape of Vijay Prakash, who is the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate for Jamui assembly constituency and brother of Jaiprakash.
Jaiprakash was forced to resign from the Union Ministry following issue of non-bailable warrant of arrest against him for allegedly causing 'illegal escape' of Prakash from police custody on the first phase polling day on October 18.
Jaiprakash is 'evading arrest' in the case and the State Government has sounded an alert for his arrest.
Kang said the state administration decided to issue a show-cause notice to the ADG seeking his explanation on the charge of defying the order of his superior.
Nath, however, had been given a clean chit by the Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon during a press conference here on October 28 after reviewing the preparations for the third phase of elections in Bihar. The CEC had said since some police officials were also involved in the case, the commission deemed it fit to assign the probe to Munger Divisional Commissioner instead of an inquiry by the ADG.
