Bill to amend Cantonment Board Act soon: Pranab

Barrackpore (WB): Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee today (Nov 13, 2005) said a bill would be brought in Parliament soon to amend the Cantonment Board Act to provide reservation to women.

The Cantonment boards throughout the country will have one-third reservation for women, he said laying the foundation stone of a water treatment plant at the cantonment here.

He said, service tax would be imposed for residential areas in the cantonments to meet the cost of infrastructure for civic services.

The water treatment plant here will be built at a cost of Rs 78 lakh and would have a capacity of three lakh gallons, official sources said.
